FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I care for my daylilies during the winter?

Daylilies are remarkably cold-hardy perennials. Once the foliage turns brown after a hard freeze, simply trim the leaves down near the soil and add a fresh layer of mulch for insulation. At the Caladium Bulb Company, we select hardy roots built to withstand cold winter dormancy smoothly. Subsequently, they bounce back beautifully when the weather warms up again.

When is the best time to divide daylily clumps?

Over time, daylilies multiply into lush clumps. Therefore, you can dig up and divide root clusters periodically during early spring to instantly expand your flower beds for free. Sharing these extra roots with neighbors is a fantastic way to spread gardening joy.

How much sunlight do these plants need to bloom reliably?

For maximum flower production, place your plants in a spot receiving plenty of direct sunlight daily. Giving them adequate light ensures a high bud count on well-branched scapes. Ultimately, this leads to that gorgeous early July bloom you expect. As a fantastic rebloomer, this variety rewards your garden with continuous color.
