This colorful banana tree gets its name from the Louisiana town where it was discovered, Bordelonville. The upper surface of the leaves of the Musa Bordelon are dotted with maroon splotches and the undersides are decorated with even more maroon color. This banana tree readily produces flowers and bears ornamental, inedible fruit.
